Six drown saving chicken $10

A wildly comic collection of bizarre but true news stories documenting the humor and pathos in human absurdity contains two hundred of the zaniest stories that capture the humor and wackiness of human life. Original.

ONE EXAMPLE FROM BOOK: Man run over by own car after reporting it stolen.

London- A briton was run over by his own car moments after leaving a police station where he had reported it stolen. Richard Weston from Nottingham, central england, stepped out of the police station and saw his car waiting at traffic lights. He ran in front of the vehicle to stop it but the thieves accelerated, hitting the 23 year old man and hurling him into the air.

The Truth Cookie $12

A modern day Cinderella meets Absolutely Fabulous! Lulu's dopey dad is in trouble. He is about to marry Varaminta le Bone, ex-super model, author of How to be Thin Like Me and mother of the odious Torquil. Lulu, unlike her father, knows that Varaminta is far from sugar-sweet. She is determined to save him, but how? Lulu has no idea...until, on her birthday, she stumbles into an odd little bookshop and Ambrosia May's cookbook falls at her feet. Packed with magical recipes, including one for Truth Cookies, it seems the only way to get Varaminta and Torquil to reveal their true colours. But that's only if Lulu can only find the strange ingredients (three sun beans? camel butter?) and persuade the ever-dieting Varaminta that these cookies are not to be missed!

No Money, No Honey! : A Candid Look at Sex-for-sale in Singapore $8

In his book, David Brazil reckons that about 6,000 women are involved in the sex-for-sale business in Singapore. Most of it is located in government-designated, out-of-town areas and is controlled and supervised. A special feature of the book is the "true stories" section - 12 women in most forms of sex-for-sale talk frankly and openly about their work, their clients, how much they earn and how they feel about men. Brazil also details the profile of the sex worker in Singapore: mistresses, models, actresses, high-class escorts, lounge hostesses, the women in Geylang's lorongs, housewife "part-timers" and even schoolgirls.

Sex Slaves: The Trafficking of Women in Asia $10

The Men's Guide to the Women's Bathroom $12
The Men's Guide to the Women's Bathroom strives to answer life's most imponderable question: What Do Women Really Do in the Bathroom?
When the witty and urbane Claire St. John leaves New York City and returns to Austin, Texas, she realizes that all of the good advice she has ever received has been from strangers in the women's bathroom. If only she'd listened before she'd married the wrong man and wound up on the losing end of a divorce.
Swearing off men, Claire decides to take a big chance—she will quit her life as a lawyer and write the ultimate self-help book—a book detailing exactly what goes on in that most sacred feminine temple: the women's bathroom.
But will the new how-to guru ever learn to take her own advice? While she's discovering the truth behind the bathroom door, re-assimilating to Texas culture by eating "nuclear" jalapeño carrots, speeding down highways through the famed Texas hill country, and even joining an ill-fated booze cruise, Claire St. John is fighting her feelings for Jake Armstrong, a dashing organic food entrepreneur who threatens to throw off the balance of her new life. Will she be able to handle the pressure or will she watch her love life get flushed away

Angel on Air $10

Angel Knights has a problem. Her boyfriend of 13 years, Connor, has just proposed to her in a flash restaurant and presented her with a rock the size of Gibraltar. Great, you might think, except he's also announced he's off to LA for six months to film a fly-on-the-wall documentary of Essex glamour models chasing fame in Hollywood. As Connor jets off to LA, Angel asks for time to think and turns to her best friends Ceri and Meg for help. Meg, the eternal romantic, is already picking out her bridesmaid's dress, but Ceri advocates caution before commitment. But then Angel meets Didier, French pop star and David Ginola lookalike. Angel is vulnerable, Connor is abroad, Ceri is encouraging, and the temptation is great.

Life Swap $12

Vicky Townsley, single and successful features director of Poise! magazine in London, thinks that marriage and children are all she needs to be happy. Amber Winslow, wife and mother living in Highfield, Conn., feels like her life is out of control. When Poise! offers to help them switch lives in the interest of a magazine article, Vicky and Amber eagerly agree. What they find is that their own lives aren't so bad, and that happiness comes from within (nothing startling here). Landor's overly affected takes on British and American accents are more distracting than enhancing. Her high-pitched children's voices are annoying and her male characters ring false. The lightweight story is enjoyable but overlong. An abridged version that trimmed back on the nonstop inner dialogue and detail-filled scenes would have probably made for a less draggy audiobook.

Dog Walker $12

New Yorker Nina Shephard is a thirty-something divorcee who quits her job in publishing and becomes a dog walker, a move that greatly disappoints her mother. While it isn't Nina's ideal job, either, it does allow her a chance to feed her need to snoop around some very swanky homes, especially in the apartment of one Daniel Maguire--bachelor, lawyer, and total cutie. Nina, though she has never met him, is madly in love with Daniel. But things are not as they appear, and when the dust settles and the truth is revealed, Nina and Daniel find they each have to come clean about who they really are and how they really feel. This first novel is an enjoyable comedy-of-errors yarn, filled with mistaken identities, eccentric characters, and lots and lots of dogs. The author takes these familiar plot elements and gives them an updated twist.

Callgirl $12

When a bad boyfriend leaves with the contents of her checking account, professor and novelist Angell (The Illusionist; Wings; etc.) decides to stabilize her finances by responding to an ad seeking escorts. Surprisingly, the world she enters isn't all that different from the Boston dating scene she already knew; it's just far more lucrative. At least her clients are relatively clear about what they want, and Angell is able to teach by day and have "dates" by night for more than three years. Separation of her two worlds is crucial but not difficult: "what we do as prostitutes... does not constitute sex in our minds." The characters who populate this tour are often sympathetic, as is Angell, though her repeated assurances sometimes ring hollow in the face of her after-hours job's drug use, abuse and manipulative behavior. To process her own participation in prostitution, and to feed the fascinated responses of others, Angell eventually teaches a university-level class on its history that is, ironically, partly responsible for advancing her career to the point where she stops doing "calls" altogether. It also helped that she was nearly busted by an undercover cop, lost a dear friend to drugs and committed the faux pas of falling in love with a client. Now married, Angell winds down with a call to legalize prostitution to encourage regulation of this vast industry.
